Indication

Treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), peptic ulcer, H. pylori eradication (in combination therapy), and pathological hypersecretory conditions.

Ingredients

• Omeprazole 20mg

Direction

Take 1 capsule/tablet daily, preferably 30 minutes before a meal. Swallow whole; do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Headache
• Nausea and diarrhoea
• Abdominal pain
• Hypomagnesaemia with prolonged use
• Rarely: C. difficile
• associated diarrhoea

Precautions

• Long
• term use may reduce magnesium levels — monitor in prolonged therapy.
• May mask symptoms of gastric cancer.
• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Avoid long
• term use without medical supervision.
• May reduce absorption of some drugs (e.g.
• ketoconazole
• atazanavir).
