NEWLANTA Aluminum Hydroxide + Magnesium Hydroxide

Indication

NEWLANTA is an antacid used for the relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, upset stomach, and gastric discomfort associated with excess stomach acid. It may also be used as an adjunct in peptic ulcer therapy.

Ingredients

• Aluminum Hydroxide 200 mg
• Magnesium Hydroxide 200 mg

Direction

Adults: Chew or swallow 1–2 tablets (or 10–20 ml suspension, if applicable) 4 times daily, 20–60 minutes after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Do not use the maximum dosage for more than 2 weeks unless directed by a doctor.

Side effects

• Constipation (due to aluminum hydroxide).
• Diarrhea (due to magnesium hydroxide).
• Nausea.
• Chalky taste.
• Rarely: hypermagnesemia or hyperaluminemia with prolonged use in renal impairment.

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to aluminum or magnesium compounds.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• prolonged use may lead to accumulation of aluminum and magnesium.
• May reduce absorption of other oral medications
• take other medicines at least 2 hours apart.
• Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision.
• Patients with a low
• phosphate diet should use with caution (aluminum hydroxide may bind dietary phosphate).
• Keep out of reach of children.
