Indication
Treatment of amoebiasis (intestinal, asymptomatic and hepatic), trichomoniasis and giardiasis, and of certain infections caused by anaerobic bacteria (Clostridium perfringens, Bacteroides fragilis).
Ingredients
- Metronidazole 250 mg
Direction
Use as prescribed; do not exceed the prescribed dose. Amoebic dysentery: children 30–50 mg/kg/day, adults 1.5 g/day, divided into 3 doses. Giardiasis: children 15 mg/kg/day, adults 750 mg/day, divided into 3 doses. Trichomoniasis: adults 2 g as a single dose.
Side effects
- Nausea
- loss of appetite or abdominal discomfort
- Metallic or unpleasant taste in the mouth
- Headache or dizziness
- Dark
- coloured urine
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any side effect is troublesome or persists
- and stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.
Precautions
- Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
- Do not drink alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after the last dose.
- Tell your doctor if you have liver disease
- a blood disorder or a nervous
- system disease.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
