Flemex Carbocysteine

Indication

Mucolytic agent for the treatment of respiratory conditions characterised by excessive or viscous mucus, including chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, and asthma with mucus hypersecretion.

Ingredients

• Carbocisteine (Carbocysteine)

Direction

Adults: 750mg three times daily, reducing to 375mg three times daily once condition improves. Children 2–5 years: 62.5–125mg four times daily; 6–12 years: 250mg three times daily (use appropriate formulation). Take with or after food.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain).
• Rash
• urticaria.
• Rare: gastrointestinal bleeding.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulcer disease.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
