Mediclovir 50mg

Indication

Mediclovir (Acyclovir cream 5%) is an antiviral agent used topically for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections of the skin, including cold sores (herpes labialis) and genital herpes lesions.

Ingredients

• Acyclovir 50 mg/g (5%) cream

Direction

Apply to the affected area 5 times daily at approximately 4-hour intervals for 5 days. Begin treatment as early as possible when symptoms first appear (prodrome stage). Wash hands before and after application.

Side effects

• Mild burning
• stinging
• or itching at application site.
• Rare: allergic contact dermatitis.

Precautions

• For external use only
• avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
• Does not cure herpes infection but reduces duration and severity of outbreaks.
• Avoid sexual contact during active genital herpes lesions.
• Keep out of reach of children.
